TACO is one of the oldest Telugu Associations in Central Ohio. It caters to the cultural, social and literary needs of the Telugu people migrated from India as well as their children raised here in USA and also to foster friendship and understanding between the Telugu speaking people and other regional communities and to support humanitarian causes.to

TACO launched a initiative called Matrubhoomi Kosam. TACO with this initiative, came forward to help the needy and destitute communities here in Columbus, OH and communities back home in India.

    To raise funds for Matrubhoomi initiative, TACO is going to conduct a 5k Walk/Run on the 16th July 2017 at Liberty Park(2845 Home Rd, Powell, OH 43065) a 100% charity event, pledged to donate all the money raised from this event to the needy communities here in Columbus and to the needy communities in the motherland – India(Andhra Pradesh – Land of Telugu speaking people).

     

    One of our TACO members was struggling with cancer, TACO team and Gauthamiputra Sathakarni distributor came forward for a benefit show and donated all the money raised towards medical expenses.

    TACO executive committee runs the Matrubhoomi stalls at TACO events and all the proceeds would go to the needy communities in Central Ohio and in India.

      And yet thousands of people go hungry in our community every day. Since 1980, we’ve been working with grocers, food companies, Ohio farmers, the USDA, community partners, and people like you to obtain food and distribute it to 650 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, and senior housing sites across central and eastern Ohio.

      West Franklin Elementary School

       

      West Franklin is a school that provides high expectations for learners by personalizing and individualizing instruction. The students and staff pride themselves on maintaining an outstanding environment for learning by practicing the seven core virtues that are cornerstones of the Basic School Concept. These virtues provide students with a blueprint of how to treat each other as well as how to maximize student, staff and family efforts in regards to academic and social growth.

      TACO back pack event held at West Franklin Elementary School was once in a life time experience. It was wonderful to see the glowing little faces as they received their new back packs. For most of them, it was a first in their life to receive something new. TACO would like to help needy people as much and as often as possible.

      Serve Needy has been incorporated to reach out to the under-privileged and it has been a commendable journey so far with the help of friends and well wishers!! To bring all the uncared orphans and destitutes under one family roof and provide full-time food, shelter, clothing, education, care and protection to them.

      Abode of Peace

       

      Located in a two-story building down a lane opposite Andhra University, the `Abode of peace’ was founded by Sheela and Mr. Ratnakar in December 1994 to provide free education and accommodation to needy children. There are now 120 boys and girls residing and studying at the organization that is run with the help of eight caretakers and other willing volunteers. The children are mainly orphans and those with single parent who cannot afford to take care of them.

      Telugu Association of Central Ohio (TACO), 2016 TACO President Ashoka Kamineni and 2016 EC Team with all your help, raised and donated $1550.00.(approximately INR 1 Lakh) to Abode of Peace, a shelter home for 150+ kids from the age of 4 till the engineering graduation age.

      Honorable minister of Andhra Pradesh Government Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao Garu cordially handed over the above said amount to Abode of Peace’s founder Mr. K Ratnakara Babu and their team in the form of TACO checks on 12-16-2016 in the presence of Srikanth Pothineni (Event coordinator – 2016 EC Team).

      We provided a special meal to 150+ kids on this special occasion, those sweet and little kids relished the food and conveyed big thanks to all of us.
